Welcome to The Imperfect Traveler—the one and only source of books, information, products, and services for people with hidden disabilities who want to take perfect trips.

Who are The Imperfect Travelers? We are every traveler who’s got some physical, mental, emotional, or chronological condition that renders us unable to travel like college students or adventure seeking adrenaline junkies. We tend not to be able to hike fifteen miles carrying 30-pound packs on our backs, share rooms of questionable hygienic quality with dozens of strangers, sleep in bus stations, walk 200 yards outdoors at 3 a.m. to use the bathroom, or climb desert mountains in war-torn Middle Eastern countries.

So what can Imperfect Travelers do? Travel! We can do so many different things and go to so many places that it’s not possible to list them all. Contrary to the implications of too many guidebooks and travel articles, you don’t need to be in perfect health to take perfect trips. Whether you’re interested in a quick weekend getaway with your sweetie, a two-week vacation with the kids in tow, or a months-long adventure tour of a lifetime—you can do it! Imperfect Travelers just need to learn how to plan and research carefully, pack appropriately, plan some more, take it a little bit slower than a healthy traveler might, make a few back-up plans, advocate for your personal comfort and special needs, and most importantly—have fun!
